A pilot training programme for refugee doctors will be launched by North West London Hospitals trust this August and will be the first of its kind in the acute sector.With funding from the London Deanery and the north west London workforce development confederation, the trust is offering three supernumerary posts to refugee surgeons. Each doctor will receive a personal development plan, and complementary training will be offered to aid doctors unfamiliar with the workings of the NHS.Help will also be offered to provide colloquial English language skills and interview preparation.Tahir Hussein, consultant vascular surgeon and one of the joint leads in the project, said: 'This is an exciting pilot project that has the potential for further roll-out within the secondary healthcare sector.'
