More than a third of recently qualified health staff expect to leave the NHS in the next three years, says a survey by the staff side of professions allied to medicine.

Of 1,800 PAMs who qualified in the past five years and are still working in the health service, only a tenth said they would 'definitely' be working in the NHS in three years' time. Just over half said they would 'probably' be working for an NHS employer. Almost 70 per cent of those no longer working in the NHS gave poor pay as their reason for leaving.

The survey will form part of the PAM's evidence to their pay review body next week.
