Lincolnshire Ambulance and Health Transport Service trust believes a 'pragmatic' approach to hitting targets was crucial to its boost from zero stars to two.

Director of healthcare governance Noel Wade said that taking 'a pragmatic view, and understanding what targets mean to staff' was key to improvements this year.

Mr Wade said it was essential that both the board and staff supported the move to improve the rating and understood what they needed to do to hit all the right targets. They 'set out with clear determination to improve the rating', he explained.

'There has been a clear focus on delivering targets that matter to patients, ' he added, highlighting the modernisation of both the emergency and outpatient fleets and the computer-aided despatch system.
