Pressure is mounting for Scotland not to implement the findings of the Royal Commission on Long-Term Care for the Elderly, says the report's author, Sir Stewart Sutherland.Giving the Royal College of Nursing Scotland inaugural annual lecture, he warned that 'the pressure to reject full implementation is growing as those who hold the purse strings in Westminster attempt to block our good intentions'.He believes the Scottish parliamentary committee will face increasing pressure to reject the proposal to fund all personal care because of Westminster's continuing rejection of the policy.Sir Stewart explained that one thing the government wished to avoid was a widely differing policy between Scotland and England.
