The number of people giving up smoking fell by 10 per cent last year, according to the latest statistics from the Information Centre for health and social care. Figures covering April 2006 to December 2006 show that 188,162 people successfully gave up for at least four weeks using NHS quit smoking services. This compared to 208,878 a year earlier - a decrease of 10 per cent.
