A Care into Career scheme has been developed by Greater Manchester Workforce Development Confederation to improve job opportunities in health and social care as part of a broader 'widening access'programme.Recruits will work in health/ social care organisations while taking a two-year foundation degree. At the end of that time, they will take up a new 'assistant practitioner' role, helping a team of professional staff - although it is hoped that some will move on to take professional qualifications.Project director Chris Mullen said local research had indicated that there was a potential pool of 'more mature'people who might relish the scheme.
