Scottish health and well-being secretary Nicola Sturgeon has pledged that a target on hand hygiene will increase compliance with standards.

The results of audits published last week by Health Protection Scotland revealed health boards are reaching 79 per cent compliance with hand hygiene standards.

Ms Sturgeon said: 'It is disappointing that not all boards are compliant with the green rating and more needs to be done to ensure that hand hygiene standards are as rigorous as possible.'
