The Bristol Royal Infirmary inquiry has announced that it will review a sample of 80 case notes on 1,800 babies and children who received open or closed heart surgery at the hospital from 1984 to 1995. Review teams drawn from the inquiry's 35-strong expert group will systematically review the sample to look at the adequacy of pre-operative, surgical and post- operative care and the adequacy of care overall. A summary of findings will supplement written and oral evidence about services at the infirmary. The inquiry now has more than 34,000 pages of documentation judged relevant to its work.
