Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster health authority has launched a three-month public consultation on the future of services for children with heart and lung disease provided by Royal Brompton and Harefield trust. It has put forward six options, but the favoured option is to consolidate inpatient and day-case services at the Royal Brompton, while retaining outpatient services at both hospitals. Consultation was postponed while an independent inquiry into survival rates at the Royal Brompton, triggered by allegations in Private Eye and the Bristol Royal Infirmary inquiry, was conducted.
