Baroness Young of Old Scone, a former NHS chief executive and prominent member of the Institute of Health Services Management , has been appointed chief executive of the Environment Agency. Baroness Young was chief executive of Parkside health authority from 1991 to 1998, and was the first woman president of the IHSM. Her environmental interests have included chairing English Nature and being chief executive of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the post she took up after leaving Parkside.
