A research centre for age-related diseases will be set up on the Guy's campus of King's College, London, following a £6m grant from the Wolfson Foundation. The Wolfson Centre for Age Related Diseases will study heart disease, stroke, Parkinson's disease, dementia and other conditions associated with ageing. The centre's first director will be Professor Leslie Iversen, currently visiting professor at the department of pharmacology in Oxford. One in six of the population is now over 65 .
