Tayside University Hospitals trust, which runs Dundee's Ninewells Hospital, is predicting a£10m overspend in the current financial year. The trust has admitted it already knew from the first three months' expenditure figures that it will not hit financial targets. The trust, with an annual budget of£190m, is seeking cost reductions in several departments. A spokesperson said the overspend was due to 'an overheating of the system caused by a much larger number of patients than expected'.
