Health visitors are to protest outside a meeting of their professional association in their continuing campaign to add health visiting to the title of the new Nursing and Midwifery Council regulatory body.In a sign of increasing unrest in the Community Practitioners'and Health Visitors'Association, several local centres plan a demonstration outside the organisation's 'open forum'on 6 October.The health visitors are protesting at the CPHVA executive committee's decision to hold the forum rather than the special general meeting requested by 21 centres to discuss the fate of their profession.

They have lodged a complaint with the CPHVA's parent body, trade union MSF.
