The Greater London Authority today launches a programme aimed at reducing the harm caused by alcohol and drugs in the capital.The London Alcohol and Drug Alliance is a partnership of NHS, local government, police, prison and voluntary-sector groups which aims to develop an alcohol policy for the capital within 12 months, and improve its understanding of drug and alcohol issues through research and monitoring.It also hopes to increase recruitment, retention and training for those working in the sector, and ensure all mayoral strategies and work by the Metropolitan Police, London Development Agency and Transport for London incorporate action to reduce the harm done by alcohol and drugs.
