Health Development Agency chief executive Paul Streets has been appointed chief executive of the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board.Mr Streets took up the HDA post one year ago. In April, the organisation will merge into the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.He takes up his post at PMETB in the new year, replacing interim chief executive Isabel Nisbet.Before joining the HDA, Mr Streets was chief executive of Diabetes UK.
The government appeared to confirm this week that the total cost of the NHS national programme for IT could reach£30bn.The figure emerged after a spokesperson for the programme told business magazine Computer Weekly that the business case for the programme was based on implementation costs for primary care trusts which are 'three to five times the cost of procurements'.The programme has a budget of£6.2bn for central procurement.
