Short cuts

The government and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry have agreed the terms of a review of competition in the supply of branded medicines to the NHS.The announcement follows the agreement reached last year on the pharmaceutical price regulation scheme. Junior health minister Lord Hunt said it was important for the government to be informed of what was happening in the drug market, where the NHS spends£7bn a year. The new study will 'inform' a further review of the PPRS in April 2002.
