I read with interest your short item on the 'intensive care bears' being used in the intensive treatment unit of Derriford Hospital, Plymouth (News, page 8, 11 December).

The Good Bears of the World (UK) Trust provides teddy bears free of charge on request to hospitals, hospices and emergency services, as well as to individuals who may be sick, injured or lonely.

The trust is funded solely by donations from members throughout the UK. An equivalent organisation also exists in the US.

If any readers feel that we could provide bears for their departments, please write to me with details.
