Glasgow's troubled Beatson Oncology Centre has appointed an expatriate Scot currently working in Australia as medical director.Professor Alan Rodgers, who trained in Edinburgh, is director of radiation oncology at the William Buckland Radiotherapy Centre in the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne.He takes up post in May.The centre was taken out of the control of North Glasgow University Hospitals trust a year ago after four consultants resigned, citing poor management and lack of resources.The Beatson has recruited significant numbers of staff, but there is still a shortage of consultants.
