A chief executive cleared of sexual harassment at an employment tribunal has been sacked by his trust.
Colin Jones, chief executive of Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre trust, was cleared of sexually harassing disabilities services project manager Shirley-Ann O'Hara by a Berkshire tribunal in March last year.
But the trust has terminated Mr Jones' contract after trying for six months to conclude an internal hearing into fresh complaints against him. A trust spokesperson said 'further complaints by staff ', which were 'connected to his alleged misconduct', sparked Mr Jones' suspension last April and a new internal inquiry.
The inquiry 'found there was a possible case to answer' and a date for an internal hearing was set four times. But Mr Jones reported sick on each occasion, leaving the trust with 'no choice but to terminate his contract', the spokesperson said. Mr Jones was not available for comment.
