Your readers may be interested in Worcestershire Acute Hospitals trust's move to its new private finance initiative hospital on 16-17 March.
We are using the American 'Move' model - moving patients in as short an amount of time as possible in order to keep patient risk and loss of activity to a minimum. In Worcester's case, 400 patients will be moved in two days. The whole project has been a huge exercise in logistical planning and has challenged even the most organised of us.We have delivered 70,000 hours of training and orientation, developed a number of tools to help staff and created a patient move plan which details the patient move days to the last minute.
Hopefully the hard work will pay off, and if any readers are currently planning hospital moves they may be interested in learning from our experiences.
