Glen Burley is the current CEO of the Foundation Group, which runs four trusts in the West Midlands, while Dame Alwen Williams was CEO of Barts Health, where she developed a group model running five hospitals in east London, until her retirement in 2022.

They talk to HSJ Health Check about how to make the model work, making sure the board’s time isn’t overwhelmed, how to stay in touch with the front line, and what it means for accountability.
