STRUCTURE: The strategic health authority NHS London will consider the full business case for the merger of Barts and the London, Whipps Cross and Newham University hospitals at an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday.

If approved the merger will creat an organisation with a turnover of £1.1bn.

A report to the SHA’s board said: “The merged trust’s ability to achieve a financially viable income and expenditure position is dependent upon delivering CIPs of £208.1m (cumulative) plus £31.5m of merger synergies while receiving funding for, and containing transitional costs to, £86.5m.

“Provided these are delivered then the income and expenditure projection can be achieved.”
