PERFORMANCE: Monitor has closed its investigation into Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation Trust, after the provider was deemed to have fixed issues responsible for failures against waiting time targets.
The regulator launched its investigation into the Shropshire-based hospital in July, after persistent failure to meet the 18-week referral to treatment target.
After reviewing the evidence Monitor decided that the trust, which specialises in bone and joint surgery, had resolved issues relating to patient backlogs.
Figures from September, the latest available, found 92.1 per cent of patients waiting to start treatment were within 18 weeks, exceeding the 92 per cent target.
Adam Cayley, regional director at Monitor, said: “We welcome the fact that patients no longer have lengthy waits for treatment.
“We can now close our investigation and the trust will go back to being regulated using our normal regime.”
Wendy Farrington Chadd, chief executive at the trust, said the hospital had made substantial progress in improving waiting times in the last year.
She added: “As a specialist high quality provider, we are the first choice for many patients and we will continue to provide the highest standards of care as a centre of excellence.”
