WORKFORCE: North Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group has appointed a new clinical accountable officer.
In July 2014, Julie Oxtoby will take over from Dave Hughes, who is stepping down to focus on his general practice commitment.
Dr Oxtoby has been a clinical director of the CCG since its inception in 2011, and is a GP working at the Park Medical Centre in Leek.
Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I am driven by a strong desire to ensure that the population we serve receives a high quality experience when exposed to the healthcare system at the times their lives when they are most vulnerable”.
“I strongly believe that if we work to simplify health and social care structures, breaking down divisions to get the focus on shaping care around individual people, we can deliver the best outcomes.
“My vision for the future of healthcare is centred around individual patients, with quality general practice at its heart,” she added.
North Staffordshire CCG represents 210,000 residents from Newcastle-under-Lyme and the Staffordshire Moorlands.
Dr Hughes has been clinical accountable office since 2011, and guided the CCG to full authorisation in April last year.
