- Medical director at Nottingham ICS and Sherwood Forest Hospitals FT Andy Haynes appointed as executive lead
- Dr Haynes will work with ICS chair to oversee transformational programmes in area
- SFHFT has started work to recruit new medical director
The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System has appointed medical director Andy Haynes as its executive lead.
Dr Haynes, who is currently medical director for both the ICS and Sherwood Forest Hospitals Foundation Trust, will take on the new role in October this year. He will be employed on an interim basis for 12 months.
As executive lead, Dr Haynes will work with ICS chair David Pearson to oversee the ICS.
Dr Haynes said: “I have been fortunate to work in Nottinghamshire over three decades in clinical, managerial and leadership roles.
“We have much to be proud of but significant issues and inequalities remain. The principles which underpin integrated care, as expressed in the ICS development, are fundamental to a sustainable, quality driven health and care system.
“It will be a privilege to commit my knowledge and understanding of Nottinghamshire to help create this future by supporting the ICS board.
“I am very proud of the progress Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust has made and grateful for the learning the role of executive medical director has offered.”
Dr Haynes is currently seconded part-time to the ICS from SFHFT – where he has carried out the role of deputy chief executive as well as medical director since 2014.
He previously worked as a senior consultant haematologist at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust for 20 years, which included being lead clinician for cancer services.
Chief executive of SFHFT Richard Mitchell said work to recruit a new medical director for the trust “will begin immediately”.
Mr Pearson welcomed the new appointment, saying: “Andy is an experienced clinical leader who is well-known by the local health community. He is an exceptional individual who has done excellent work leading clinical teams across the system.”
