STRUCTURE: The foundation trust begun construction work in August on a new 32-bed low secure unit for people with learning disabilities.

It said in a statement that the £7.1m “Maplewood 2” building would replace its “outdated Chestnut Drive accommodation, which will be vacated when the new building opens next summer”.

The new unit will provide four eight-person flats, day services, psychology facilities and a secure garden area.

Vice Chairman, John Cowdall said: “Calderstones is investing in top class accommodation for service users, demonstrating commitment and confidence in our long term future as a provider of sought after services for people with learning disabilities.”
