PERFORMANCE: Monitor has closed its investigation into waiting times at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.

The regulator launched its investigation in June 2013, after the trust missed the target of seeing 95 per cent of accident and emergency patients within four hours, in five out of eight financial quarters. The provider was also in breach of the 18 week waiting time to treatment target.

Monitor announced that the trust’s A&E performance was now in line with the national standard and that it was assured the trust had fixed the issues causing it to breach the 18 week target.

Laura Mills, senior regional manager at Monitor, said her organisation welcomed the news, and that the trust would “return to being regulated using our normal regime”.

Deputy chief executive of SWFT Jayne Blacklay said the trust “had worked extremely hard over the last few months to put in place measures to improve and sustain our performance”.

She added Monitor’s announcement was “great news for our patients and puts the trust in a strong position moving forward into the winter months”.
