A new substantive chair has been appointed to Barts Health Trust, six months after the departure of his predecessor.

John Bacon stood down in October after 15 months in post and an acting chair took over.

The appointment of Ian Peters was announced this week and he will take up the post on 1 April.

Mr Peters will stand down from his roles as chair of a housing association and a non-executive director at Central and North West London Foundation Trust.

NHS Improvement deputy chief executive and executive director of regulation Stephen Hay said: “It’s vital that NHS trusts have very strong leadership to help them provide great care for patients. That’s why I’m delighted we have appointed someone of Ian’s calibre to join the talented team at Barts Health.”
