PERFORMANCE: Older people’s mental health wards across Sussex require improvement, according to the Care Quality Commission.
Services run by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust were criticised for inadequately separating men and women’s sleeping areas and bathrooms in the report but rated good for being effective and caring. Inspectors visited six wards in sites across the county which catered for older people with mental health conditions, including dementia.
The inspectors also found many issues highlighted highlighted in an earlier inspection had been addressed.
However, the trust was still struggling to meet requirements around single sex accommodation. The trust has had a programme of improving this but has been trying to do so without unduly disrupting or distressing patients.
