The chief executive of Royal Berkshire Foundation Trust has warned it is likely to miss its four hour A&E waiting targets due to the level of demand placed upon it.

Edward Donald said the level of demand ahead of winter suggested that there was a considerable risk the waiting time standard would not be achieved.

On 21 October 318 patients were reviewed and treated in the hospital’s A&E, with 112 patients being admitted. Both figures were record highs.
