PERFORMANCE: The Department of Health has raised concerns about mortality and finance with Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust.

A letter was sent to the trust by director of provider delivery Matthew Kershaw after it was “escalated” by the DH for missing milestones on its journey to becoming a foundation trust.

It highlights concerns with its progress towards becoming an FT, including: “mortality - with an HSMR of 117 you are a significant outlier against
national measures” and “income - your contracted income does not match your activity month on month”. Another outstanding concern is liquidity.

However, in relation to board capability and “previous performance issues”, the letter says the issues have been addressed.
