WORKFORCE: Robert Deri, an accountant, has been appointed chair of Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust.
Mr Deri replaces David Watt, who has been acting chair since the resignation of Scilla Smith in August. Ms Smith said she stepped down because she had reached the longest term allowed under Monitor foundation trust governance guidance.
Mr Deri is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has over 25 years’ experience in senior business roles, including group finance director for Grattan plc, CFO of Zoo Digital Group and general manager on the board of BT Mobile Communications.
He said: “I am delighted to be given this exciting opportunity to help guide Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust through the foundation trust application period. I am really looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead and to meeting and working with the staff at our hospitals.
“My aim is to help us deliver the highest quality of care to our patients and help us to forge a reputation as one of the best trusts in the country.”
Chief executive Phil Morley said: “I would like to warmly welcome Rob to our trust. I am looking forward to working with someone of his calibre and I know he will make a very positive contribution to the future success of our organisation.”
