COMMERCIAL: The Humber PCTs - Hull, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and East Riding of Yorkshire - and the NHS North Yorkshire and York - are working on a single commissioning support organisation, it has been confirmed.
A Humber cluster board paper confirms the grouping is developing a “prospectus” and later business case for the CSO.
It says: “National commissioning support guidance states that, ‘Whatever the scale at which services are delivered, the customer interface must be right and characterised by local responsiveness and relevance’.”
The board paper adds: “The collaboration between the NHS North Yorkshire and York and NHS Humber Clusters has been based on analysis of the patient activity within the PCT Cluster and clinical commissioning group boundaries. This demonstrates the following:
“The majority of secondary and community care services accessed by the population of Humber and North Yorkshire and York are provided by a small number of key providers spanning across both PCT Cluster and clinical commissioning group boundaries. There are few market segments in which providers are unique to an individual PCT Cluster or clinical commissioning group.”
