COMMERCIAL: A new health centre has opened in Hull, encompassing primary care and a range of community services.

The Wilberforce Health Centre was built as an NHS Local Improvement Finance Trust scheme.

It is now hosting GP practices and a walk in centre, which have relocated from elsewhere; sexual health services, also relocated; cornerhouse young people’s services, teenage pregnancy support services, addictions services, healthy living advice, a base for paramedic, and a café.

NHS Hull capital programme manager Laura Ryan said: “We are delighted that Wilberforce Health Centre is now open to the public, providing excellent facilities and a range of services in a convenient city centre location.”

The GP surgery and walk-in centre, Story Street Medical Practice and Walk-in Centre, one of those housed in the building, is run by Assura East Riding LLP.

Ric Harrison, local GP and member of Assura East Riding LLP, said: “We are delighted to have relocated to our new home which is much better suited to delivering high quality medical care that is both conveniently and easily accessible to local people.”
