Kingston Hospital Foundation Trust is likely to put its cleaning, catering and porter services out to tender.

The FT said its private finance initiative contract, with Prime Care Solutions (Kingston) Ltd, has a built-in benchmarking process for soft facilities management, which enables it to tender the services.

The trust’s annual report for 2014-15 listed ISS Facilities Services as the provider.

HSJ asked the trust if it had considered attempting to buy out its PFI contract, as part of a wider survey of trusts last month.

A trust spokesman said: “No, although we are able to put elements of the contract out to tender and are likely to do so to test best value.

“Our PFI contract builds in a benchmarking process every five years for soft facilities management. Should cost increases be outside of given tolerance levels, the services can be market tested.”

According to estates data submitted to the Health and Social Care Information Centre for 2014-15, the trust spent £9.8m on the soft facilities management element of the PFI deal.
