WORKFORCE: The foundation trust has appointed two new non-executive directors to replace Belinda Weir, who resigned earlier this year, and outgoing post-holder Sam Jones.

Lancashire Care said that new non-executives Jim Taylor and Gwynne Furlong would be joining the board of directors for a term of three years, from 30 September.

Trust chairman Steve Jones said Ms Weir had taken on greater responsibilities at health think tank the King’s Fund, and Sam Jones was about to “provide his insight to one of the clinical commissioning groups in Lancashire”, adding: “Good people are always in demand”.

The trust said that for the past 18 years incoming NED Mr Taylor had served on executive committees and boards for “leading global medical device buisinesses”, had “overseen significant mergers and acquisitions” and was “experienced in dealing with financial institutions”.

Mr Furlong had a 40-year career as a qualified professional “primarily in the commercial property industry”, it added. His last post prior to retirement in 2008 was as a director in the asset management division of merchant bank Close Brothers Plc. He also serves as a non-executive director for two north-western housing associations.
