Former Care Quality Commission chief inspector Professor Sir Mike Richards is joining consultancy firm PwC.
Sir Mike will become a senior adviser in PwC’s health industries team, which includes former health secretary Alan Milburn and former NHS Confederation chief executive Mike Farrar.
In September, HSJ reported Sir Mike’s appointment to Incisive Health, another health consultancy.
PwC said Sir Mike will focus on advising clients about new care models, investment in innovation and technologies, and driving sustainable improvement in care quality.
He left the CQC in July after spending four years as the regulator’s first chief inspector of hospitals.
Sir Mike said: “I am delighted to be joining such a prestigious health advisory practice and have begun to work already on some key assignments supporting clients to improve the quality of care for patients.”
Quentin Cole, leader of health industries at PwC, said: “Sir Mike will be a significant addition, providing unparalleled insight and experience into the NHS which will undoubtedly expand our support to clients as well as our overall healthcare strategy.”
Prior to his work with the CQC, Sir Mike held national roles at NHS England and the Department of Health, and worked as a hospital physician for more than 20 years.
