STRUCTURE: A clinical commissioning group in the East Midlands is to hold its first public board meeting next week.
East Leicestershire and Rutland CCG will meet at Leicester Racecourse, Oadby, Leicester, on Tuesday 10 April.
Ahead of taking over commissioning responsibilities in April next year, the CCG has drawn up its main healthcare objectives for the next three years.
The strategy will see it try to tackle ill health and long term conditions, bringing care closer to patients’ homes and improving end of life care.
The CCG serves over 318,000 patients in Melton, Rutland, Market Harborough, Blaby District, Lutterworth, Oadby and Wigston.
Dr Dave Briggs, chair of the East Leicestershire and Rutland CCG, said: “The public will have the opportunity to listen to significant discussions on the buying of healthcare for patients in East Leicestershire and Rutland.
“We remain focused on improving care and health outcomes for patients with chronic conditions and we are putting a particular focus on improving services for patients with dementia and tackling long term conditions including diabetes and lung conditions.”
