FINANCE: Lewisham and Greenwich Trust has agreed a block contract for accident and emergency admissions after going into arbitration with commissioners.
Minutes presented to the trust’s June board meeting said: “Commissioners had challenged the number of admissions through the emergency pathway.
“Agreement had now been reached on a block contract for the first six months, during which time work would take place with the support of an external party to agree activity levels. Terms of reference would be agreed to progress this work.”
The papers said the negotiations had been “protracted”.
The trust was also working with commissioners to agree the amount of winter pressure funding it would be paid.
The papers said: “This had reduced from £7.1m in 2015-16 to £3.1m in the initial proposal. The current offer was £5.2m. The trust had gone to arbitration over an increase of £4m for local prices. Verbal agreement had been reached that this would be received, phased over the next three years.”
