PERFORMANCE: Waiting time performance for elective procedures has plummeted at North West London Hospitals Trust after A&E problems meant insufficient beds were available.

Figures presented to the board of Harrow CCG said the trust’s performance against the 90 per cent within 18 weeks target had fallen to 80.8 per cent in month-11.

A report to the CCG said: “Following the trust citing increased demand as driver for under  performance, the CSU has undertaken an assessment of elective demand within challenged specialties which has concluded that there is not increasing demand from CCGs.

The trust recently stated the root cause for the poor performance is due to pressures from the emergency pathway restricting the trust’s ability to deliver the required elective workload.”
