PERFORMANCE: Young people with mental health problems in Kent are having to wait more than six months for a specialist assessment.
A report to Kent and Medway PCT cluster shows that waiting times in parts of West Kent are 27 weeks while patients in Dover were seen without two weeks.
The child and adolescent mental health services have recently been taken over by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust which has a target of seeing all patients without six weeks by July. It has been rescreening young people already on the waiting list and plans to use staff from other parts of the service to help areas with particularly long waits, as well as asking East Sussex staff if they would do additional hours
A new service model is being introduced next month.
