PERFORMANCE: The Luton and Bedfordshire PCT cluster is being monitored monthly by its strategic health authority, after a “significant drop” in performance at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
Cluster chief executive Angela McNab said in her report to the NHS Luton board meeting in September: “I am sorry to report that at our recent SHA performance review we identified a significant drop in performance at the L&D hospital. Key areas of concern are: mixed sex accommodation, cancer waits, long waiters for elective treatment and some challenging weeks in A&E performance.”
She added: “As a result of this, the SHA has placed the cluster onto monthly performance monitoring. We are working intensively with the L&D and are expecting to see progress which enables us to move back to acceptable performance within three months and which we hope will enable us to be back to monthly reporting by the end of the calendar year.”
