HSJ has chosen Medicinema as its charity partner for next month’s Partnership Awards.

MediCinema is a charity that builds and manages state-of-the-art cinemas and screens the latest releases in hospitals and health facilities throughout the UK. Attending these screenings allows patients of all ages to enjoy some precious normality, escapism and excitement - three things that are often taken from patients, particularly those in long-term care and in and out of hospital.

Melinda Edwards, head of paediatric psychology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust described the cinema as an environment that ‘enables young people just to be young’ and to ‘be part of a different reality’.

The HSJ Partnership Awards celebrate the most effective partnerships between the private and third sector and the NHS. The awards ceremony will take place in London on 20 March. The shortlisted entrants can be seen here.
