STRUCTURE: Teesside is considering creating a shared public health service for the Tees Valley.

It is part of plans for moving public health out of the Teesside primary care trusts.

NHS Tees chief executive board paper reports: “The NHS Middlesbrough Team has moved into Council premises as part of managing the transition.

“A communication plan is being developed for embedding Public Health across the Council. The operating model for a Tees Valley shared public health service are being developed with the NHS tees chief executive and Middlesbrough Council chief executive working closely with the directors of public health.”

The report also comments on the proposed public health allocation formula for councils, and that the “estimated future public health allocation is likely to be less than the recurrent position and the 10/11 returns”.
