FINANCE: The specialist trust was predicting a deficit of £400,000 for January but instead saw a surplus of £1.5m.

The trust’s finance report said: “Cumulative performance for the year at £9.7m stands at a favourable £4.9m to plan.”

Moorfields saw significant performance over plan in work for primary care trusts and its research and development work.

Moorfields Dubai, its venture in the Middle East, performed very slightly below revenue plan at £3.4m.

The trust has stayed within its private patient cap for the year, earning £13.8m.

It is allowed another £2.2m this year.
