A national framework has been launched for buying leadership development for clinical commissioners.

The National Framework for CCG Development has been developed by the National Leadership Academy.

Emerging CCGs can use the framework to buy development support from the listed providers using a local “mini-competition process”, from any of four lots.

The listed providers are groups of providers generally including management consultants, accountants, lawyers, leadership experts, and organisations such as the NHS Alliance and National Association of Primary Care.

Commissioners can request £10,000 from the NLC, but will have to pay for the rest of the support bought through the framework themselves.

Details of the framework say: “The support and tools commissioned under the framework will enable clinical leaders and clinical commissioning groups to develop the right leadership behaviours, and receive the support necessary to develop the leadership capability and capacity to commission healthcare effectively.”
