FINANCE: Newcastle PCT and its two emerging commissioning consortia have announced an agreed “locality delivery plan”, focusing on reducing unplanned hospital admissions and improving out of hospital care.

A PCT statement said the plan had been approved by the board of the PCT cluster, North of Tyne, and was “driven by an overarching integrated strategic and operational plan which covers Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle and a population of some 800,000 people”.

It plans improvement to care for older people, people with mental health problems and for children and families.

A new mental health programme is proposed in schools across the city. The two consortia, Newcastle Bridges and TyneHealth consortium, have agreed the plans.
