WORKFORCE: GPs in Newham, east London, are to be trained in recognising domestic abuse and be expected to routinely question patients with sexually transmitted infections or unplanned pregnancies about whether they have experienced domestic violence.

Newham Clinical Commissioning Group’s Safeguarding Children Annual Report 2013-14 states that the CCG will be rolling out domestic abuse awareness training for GPs.

It says: “Additional resources have been secured to support GP practices in relations to these recommendations.”

The report was presented at the December meeting of the CCG’s governing body.
