- WORKFORCE: North Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group has appointed Marcus Warnes as its accountable officer.
Mr Warnes has been carrying out the role in an interim capacity since July, before which we was the group’s chief operating officer.
The appointment will be subject to formal approval by NHS England.
Mr Warnes said: “I am delighted that I have been appointed to the role of accountable officer for North Staffordshire CCG and welcome the confidence shown in me to carry out such a critical and challenging role.
“My immediate priorities are to continue working with our partners to improve performance against NHS constitution standards, particularly in accident and emergency and hospital referral to treatment times; to secure the CCG’s finances this year so we go into next year in a strong position; and to ensure that the CCG has the necessary capacity and capability to operate effectively.”
Mark Shapley, the CCG’s clinical chair, said: “The appointment will ensure stability and continuity. Marcus has a strong track record in the area, and is familiar with the range of health challenges facing the NHS in North Staffordshire.”
