WORKFORCE: The accountable officer of Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group has announced he is stepping down.
Ian Atkinson will leave his role at the end of March. He was appointed in July 2012, when the organisation was still in shadow form.
Mr Atkinson was previously the interim chief executive Sheffield Primary Care Trust. A statement said he “now plans to concentrate on developing his own business”.
He said: “It’s never an easy decision to leave a successful organisation; but I felt that with the CCG in the strong position it is, recognised as a high performing and innovative CCG, with clear plans for responding to the five year forward view and a strong financial position, that now was as good a time as any.”
CCG chair Tim Moorhead said: “On behalf of the whole of the governing body and the wider CCG, we will obviously miss Ian but wish him well going forward and thank him for his hard work and commitment to the CCG, the previous primary care trust and the Sheffield health system over the last seven years.”
